Main Ingredients
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs separated
- 500 ml buttermilk
- 50 g butter melted
In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
In another bowl, beat the egg yolks and add the buttermilk and melted butter.
Combine the wet and dry ingredients until smooth.
In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then fold into the batter.
Heat the æbleskiver pan and lightly grease each well with butter.
Fill each well halfway with batter. Cook until the edges start to set, then use a skewer to turn each æbleskive halfway to form a ball. Continue cooking until golden brown and cooked through.
Serve warm with powdered sugar, jam, or syrup.
